This species is distinguished by the following characters: D XI,9; A III,9; pectoral fin rays 15; sixth dorsal spine longest; interspinous membranes of dorsal fin of males higher than spine tips; pelvic fin of male very long, 2.65-2.85 in SL; rounded caudal fin; lateral line scales 17+6; median predorsal scales 5; cheek with 1 horizontal row of scales (Ref. 41654).
