Spine dorsali (totale): 2; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 7; Spine anali 1; Raggi anali molli: 4. Distinguished from C. kaiei by having the abdomen lightly colored, caudal fin without light bands, anal fin I,4, caudal peduncle strongly compressed, and 5 plates below adpressed pectoral fin spine. Generic characteristics: caudal fin 1, 14, 1; adipose fin replaced by low elongate postdorsal ridge formed by series of raised median unpaired plates contiguous with dorsal procurrent caudal fin spines.
In the main channel over gravel and cobble (Ref. 37093).
