पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण): 2; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण): 5-6; जानवरों की रीड़ का जोड़: 31 - 32. Diagnosis: Labial disk moderately developed and rounded, covered with large papillae; mandibular barbels little developed, auxiliary barbels absent; premaxillary teeth large and arranged in 3-4 rows; mandibular teeth numbering 4+4 to 5+5, sometimes even 6+6; dorsal fin with 5-6 branched rays, the 6th soft ray always slender, very close to 5th; adipose fin short, beginning slightly ahead of anal-fin origin; caudal peduncle rather elongate, but less so than in C. batesii; caudal fin deeply forked, with distinctly pointed lobes, lower lobe longer than upper; usually a longitudinal black band on one or both lobes of caudal fin; eyes moderately developed; sexual dimorphism absent or weak (Ref. 57223).
Colouration: body with 3 more or less well defined dark vertical bars separated by paler areas; lower caudal-fin lobe, and sometimes also the upper, with a more or less distinct black band (Ref. 57223).
Oviparous (Ref. 205). Maximum size 6.2cm TL (Ref. 3202).
