Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt): 13 - 15; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 6-9; Afterflossenstacheln 0; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 23 - 27. Differs from other species of Ocella in having large and small subpectoral plates, 3 blackish -brown bands on pectoral fin, 43 or more lateral line plates, 13 to 15 dorsal spines and 15 to 16 anal fin rays.
