Greek, eu = good + Greek, gomphos = nail + Greek, odous = teeth (Ref. 45335).
  Etymology of specific epithet  
  from ETYFish
-atus (L.), provided with: tricuspid teeth, referring to how “awl-shaped” teeth have a “small basal cusp” (or cusplet) on both sides of smooth main cusp [perhaps a junior synonym of C. taurus]. (See ETYFish)
