Comments: Introduced from Hungary via Germany. Useful for weed control but not yet widespread. Introduced in 1967 from Batu Berendam Research Station, Malaysia. Together with carp the fish tape worm Bothriocephalus acheilognathi was accidentally introduced into the Fisheries Research Station at Marble Hall, Transvaal in 1976 (Ref. 6465).
