Definition of Term

(English) A slimy substance secreted by the skin of fishes; a solution of mucin or other viscous substances, also: a slimy, clear, slippery fluid formed by the mixture of mucin, a glycoprotein, from the mucus cells and water. (See also: mucin, skin, integument)
