Definition of Term

(English) A method for preserving fish by exposure to ionising radiation from radioactive isotopes or an electron source. At pasteurisation doses of 150,000 to 450,000 rads over 90% of the spoilage bacteria are killed and the shelf life of the fish at 0 to 20 deg Celsius is extended by about two weeks.
