Diagnosis:   
Biology:  A detritivore-herbivore that occurs in slow-moving waters (Ref. 114771).

Country info:  Type locality of Cichlasoma tuyrense, Rio Tuyra, Boca de Cupe. Endemic to the pacific slope of eastern Panamá (Ref. 114771). Known from the Tuíra and Bayano River basins (Ref. 36377). Also Ref. 7335.
