Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Oceania: Fly-Strickland system of Papua New Guinea and northern part of Cape York Peninsula, Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-9
Biology:  Found in both large turbid lowland rivers and relatively steep gradient tributaries in mountainous terrain (Ref. 2847). Occurs in clear, flowing streams over gravel or rock bottoms (Ref. 5259, 44894). Feeds mainly on insects and crustaceans (Ref. 5259, 44894).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from the Fly-Strickland river system. Common in the Upper Fly at distances of about 800-970 km upsteam from the sea. Also Ref. 5259, 6771, 13533.
