Family:  Nettastomatidae (Duckbill eels)
Max. size:  64.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 30 - 731 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: southern Portugal to Angola including the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian seas in the Mediterranean.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  The young are sometimes found in caves, larger specimens caught deeper. Feeds mainly on decapod natantia (Ref. 4776).
