Distribution:  South America: Amazon, upper Orinoco, and Essequibo River basins.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Feeds on detritus (Ref. 12371).

Country info:  Known from the Amazon River basin (Ref. 38013). Occurs in Ampiyacu, Tigre, Mazán, Pastaza and Ucayali Rivers. Also found in Pevas and Contamana. Exported as an aquarium fish (Ref. 9235). Also Ref. 6329, 34109.
