Distribution:  South America: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 5-5. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: dorsally expanded caudal peduncle as result of long ang numerous dorsal procurrent caudal-fin rays 29-32; well-developed pelvic fin and girdle; anterior segment of the infraorbital canal absent; and ventral procurrent caudal-fin rays 19-20 (Ref. 137860).
