Max. size:  16.8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs over sandy bottoms in rather shallow waters. Feeds on insect larvae and other soft invertebrates that is sifted from the sand that is passed over the gills (Ref. 5595).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 19 June 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
