Family:  Sebastidae (Rockfishes, rockcods and thornyheads), subfamily: Sebastolobinae
Max. size:  50 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; depth range 130 - 1100 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Massachusetts and northern Gulf of Mexico to southern Florida in USA.
Biology:  Anterolateral glandular grooves with venom gland (Ref. 57406).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 27 July 2015 Ref. (120744)
Threat to humans:  venomous
