Distribution:  Africa: rapids of the lower Congo River (Ref. 42510, 52307, 104438) in Republic of Congo and Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 104438).
Diagnosis:  Description: body extremely flattened; elevated number of pored body scales associated with laterosensory system; eyes located in a much more elevated position than those of any of its congeners; swim bladder reduced; scales very small; a single lateral line (Ref. 52307).
Biology:  Rheophilic; pair-bonding, cave spawner (Ref. 52307).
