Family:	Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Myctophinae
Max. size:	7 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:	bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 1500 m
Distribution:	North Pacific: Japan (Ref. 559), Alaska and British Columbia, Canada (Ref. 6876).
Diagnosis:	Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 17-20. Lateral line undeveloped externally, only the 1st 2 or 3 scales perforated; snout slightly projecting; gill rakers well developed; caudal peduncle narrow and long, its depth less than eye diameter; short luminous caudal glands only in males (Ref. 559).
Biology:	Mesopelagic, migrating to the surface at night (Ref. 559).
