Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Symphurinae
Max. size:  16.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 5 - 324 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: North Carolina, USA through the Gulf of Mexico to the Campeche Bank region off the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. Single record from Cuba.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits bays and shallow coastal waters.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 20 August 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
