Max. size:  8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 402 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Greater Antilles to Uruguay.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-13
Biology:  A solitary species (Ref. 26340) inhabiting rocky and coral reefs and seagrass beds (Ref. 9710). Synchronously hermaphroditic.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 23 August 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
