Max. size:  25 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 18 - 410 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: North Carolina, USA to Santa Catarina, Brazil (Ref. 57756), including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. [Most likely Saurida parri Norman, 1935, in Eastern Atlantic: Mauritania to Senegal; Gabon to Angola, including Ascension Island.]
