Max. size:  75 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 800 - 1360 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: Chile (Ref. 27540). Southwest Atlantic: off Brazil (Ref. 86346).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Holotype taken from a depth of 1200 m (Ref. 26282). Oviparous (Ref. 50449). Eggs have horn-like projections on the shell (Ref. 205).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 09 February 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
