Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: coastal basins of Cameroon to the Republic of Congo (Ref. 81639). Also present from the middle Congo River basin (Ref. 41594, 42035, 81639) up to the lower Lualaba (Ref. 106245), in Central African Republic, Republic of Congo and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 16-18. Diagnosis: 46-52 scales in lateral line; 13-15 circumpeduncular scales; elongated spot on caudal peduncle (Ref. 81639). Description: mouth terminal, without barbels; scales with divergent striae; scale formula: 8.5-9.5/46-52/4.5-5.5; 2.0-2.5; 13-15; dorsal fin falciform, origin in advance of anal fin; D: II-III,7; A: III,13-15; caudal fin forked (Ref. 81639). Coloration: body silvery, back metallic blue; 12-14 dark vertical bars along flanks terminating in black spot at base of caudal fin (Ref. 81639).
