Family:  Triglidae (Searobins), subfamily: Pterygotriglinae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 500 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Tosa Bay, Japan and recent records from New Caledonia.
Diagnosis:  Large lateral scales. Mostly reddish head and dorsum, flanks and belly white.
Biology:  Inhabits continental shelves and insular areas. A deepwater species (Ref. 9771).
