Max. size:  8.2 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 6 - 15 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Papua New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 26-27; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 14-14. This species is diagnosed by the following characters: D III,26-27; A III,14; lateral line scales 48-50; caudal fin is truncate to emarginate, and sometimes weakly trifurcate (Ref. 56434). Description: Characterized by light brown color overall except purple to bluish color of cheek and lower portion of head; lower edge of eye outlined with orange and short black mark immediately behind eye; anterior lateral line scales 30-38; predorsal scales 23-28; depth of body 24.3-25.5 % of SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Collected from reef caves, reef overhangs and slopes (Ref. 56434).
