Gelatinous dwarf snailfish

Max. size:  6.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 650 m
Distribution:  Northeast Atlantic: off southeast Greenland.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 38-38; Anal soft rays: 35-35. No coronal pore, 6 preoperculo-mandibular and 2 suprabranchial pores; head large (29% SL), eye small (17.4% HL), mouth slightly oblique and short (cleft reaching below anterior margin of eye); dorsal and anal fins overlap 2/3 of caudal fin; body greatly gelatinous; color pale with dark margins near middle of dorsal and anal fins.
Biology:  Collected from midwater (Ref. 42989). Reported maximum length of 3 cm SL based on a juvenile specimen (Ref. 42989). Preliminary maximum length assumed as 6.5 cm TL.
