Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Guianas and Amazon River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Rare and little is know of its biology. Occurs in rapidly flowing water over a sandy bottom together with Leporinus granti, L. maculatus and Crenicichla multispinosa. Its dispersed capture suggests a solitary behavior (Ref. 12225).
