Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Pomacentrinae
Max. size:  9.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 6 m
Distribution:  South Pacific: Tonga and Fiji.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 13-15; Vertebrae: 26-26. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D XIII,13-14 (usually 14); A II,13- 15; pectoral rays 17-19; tubed lateral line scales 15-18 (modally 16); total gill rakers 22-25; sub-orbital scaled, the margin is smooth or rarely with one or two weak serrae; body depth 1.95-2.1 in SL; longest dorsal spine 1.7-2.05 in HL; second anal spine 1.5-1.7 in HL. Colouration: in life, pale blue-green with a wedge-shaped black bar at upper pectoral fin base (Ref. 124650).
Biology:  Occurs in shallow reefs , close to corals for shelter (Ref. 54980). Life history characteristics for the family specify that this group is oviparous, with distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
