Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.19999980926514 - 8.5; dH range: 10 - 20
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults occur in small communities. Usually found over rocks either solitary or in aggregation (Ref. 86760). Feed by scraping rock biocover (Ref. 6770). Females brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 7248, 86760).
