Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  9.6 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 4 years
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: found only in Mississippi River basin from New York to Minnesota and south to northern Alabama and northern Arkansas; and in Maumee River system (in Lake Erie drainage) in Ohio and Indiana in the USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky riffles of small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294).
