Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 30 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: southern Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 5; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 38-42. Body compressed, eye and mouth (oblique) very large.
Biology:  Found in coastal waters in rocky reefs, ledges and caves during day (Ref. 9002).
