Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Numerous thin lines on body and thick bands through eye and below. Sometimes a small black peduncular spot (Ref. 48635).
Description: Characterized by whitish body color; juvenile with fewer, wider brown stripes and pronounced black spot at middle of caudal fin base; greatest depth of body 2.9-3.2 in SL (Ref. 90102). |

Found in deep and shallow lagoons with coral heads (Ref. 8631). Solitary or in small groups (Ref 90102). |
