Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 18 - 60 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Cocos-Keeling Islands to Fiji and Palau; northward to Yaeyama Islands; south to Indonesia. Reported from the Penghu Islands (Ref. 55073).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-9. Description: Characterized by semi-transparent pinkish color with red-brown midlateral stripe; brown spot at middle of caudal fin base, prominent white spot immediately above; greatest depth of body 3.1-3.6 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Found in caves of drop-offs; also in clear coastal to outer reefs, commonly in large black corals growing away from walls (Ref. 48635). Forms aggregations (Ref 90102). Maximum depth reported taken from Ref. 128797.
