Family:  Ophidiidae (Cusk-eels), subfamily: Ophidiinae
Max. size:  18 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; depth range 0 - 20 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Costa Rica to northern Peru.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Uncommon species (Ref. 34024) found in mangrove areas, on muddy and sandy bottoms (Ref. 9329). Oviparous, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
IUCN Red List Status: Near Threatened (NT); Date assessed: 23 May 2007 Ref. (130435)
