Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  14 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Lake Erie and Ohio River drainages from Ontario, Canada and New York to Michigan, and south to northern Georgia, USA. Common throughout eastern part of range, rare in western areas (absent in lower Wabash, lower Cumberland, and most of lower Tennessee River drainages); rare in Lake Erie drainage.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky runs and riffles of small to large rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294).
