Family:  Platytroctidae (Tubeshoulders)
Max. size:  16.4 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 780 - 5000 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Iceland and western part of British Isles to Portugal including Azores Island (northern and western boundaries apparently following the 1,000 m isotherm for 4°C and the southern boundary for 5°C); and from the Canary Islands to Senegal, Gulf of Guinea and Angola (Ref. 4461).
