Distribution:  Asia: India and Myanmar.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13. Distinguished from N. labeosus, by the following characters: depth of caudal peduncle 13.2% SL, 1.1 times in its length; 9 1/2 branched dorsal rays.
Biology:  Inhabits streams with pebbly bottom (Ref. 41236).
