Max. size:  25.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 259 - 677 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic. Western Atlantic: tropical and subtropical, from New England Ridge (39°42′ N, 71°56′ W) to Suriname, including the entire Caribbean basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal soft rays: 30-31. This species is distinguished by head length 2.9-3.0 times in SL; maximum body height 24.3 - 26.4% SL; preanal length 52.5 - 58.4% SL, prevental length 30% SL; anal fin with 30 (31) rays; developed rakers on the first gill arch 16; mouth and pectoral fin light (Ref. 122568).
