Family:  Muraenidae (Moray eels), subfamily: Muraeninae
Max. size:  100 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 3 - 60 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Mauritania to Namibia, including Cape Verde and the islands of the Bay of Biafra. Also known from western Atlantic.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Lives in shallow rocky bottoms (Ref. 2683) and feeds mainly on crustaceans (Ref. 3254).

Threat to humans:  harmless
