Distribution:  Western Atlantic: northeastern USA to southeastern Brazil, including the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean islands, and the Amazon continental shelf and estuaries; also oceanic systems of Saint Peter and Saint Paul and Fernando de Noronha archipelagos.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Recorded in estuaries, oceanic islands and coastal regions along its distribution, suggesting an association with high productivity areas (Ref. 137861).
