Family:  Mormyridae (Elephantfishes)
Max. size:  32.1 cm SL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 200.0 g
Environment:  demersal; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Africa: Gambia, Senegal, Niger, Chad, Sassandra and Volta basins. Known from all great Sudanian basins and in the basins of the north-Guinean zones (Ref. 81274). Absent in zones of coastal forests (Ref. 2915).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 28-38. Dorsal origin behind anal fin origin; ratio between base of dorsal and base of anal = 0.7-0.9 body depth 3.1-4.6 x SL; depth of peduncle 2.0-3.6 x of its length.
