Family:  Lestidiidae (Naked barracudinas)
Max. size:  55 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 2000 m
Distribution:  Atlantic Ocean: antitropical in distribution. Known only from stomachs of Alepisaurus in the South Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 24-28. Body pale with black dorsal band (Ref. 4056).
Biology:  Epipelagic to bathypelagic, young mainly at the surface and to 200 m, adults at 400-2,000 m (Ref. 4473). Carnivorous (Ref. 5759).
