Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; pH range: 25.8 - 3.5; depth range 6 - 1880 m
Distribution:  North Atlantic: Canada, Greenland, Svalbard and the northern Barents Sea. Arctic Ocean: Beloye More (Ref. 9926), northern seas of the former USSR, the coasts of Siberia and Arctic Alaska and Canada.
Diagnosis:  Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 36-42. Caudal fin rounded and small. Peritoneum black (Ref. 4702).
Biology:  Inhabits mud bottoms (Ref. 5951). Epibenthic (Ref. 58426). Maximum depth reported at 1800 m (Ref. 58426) and 2,500 m (Ref. . Feeds on benthic and pelagic crustaceans (Ref. 4702), and worms (Ref. 58426).
