Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Ulungur Lake and Ulungur River in China (Ref. 33783), Mongolia and rivers draining to the Arctic Ocean, from the Ob to the Kolyma (Ref. 57778).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rivers and lakes where it forms small shoals above sandy and stony bottom. Feeds on insect larvae such as caddis flies and mayflies, terrestrial insects, Cladocerans, copepods, algae and higher aquatic plants (Ref. 41072).
