Max. size:  30.8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 2000 - 3100 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: several records between 14°11'N (off Senegal) and 50°08'N. Elsewhere, eastern Pacific, from the equator to 38°24'N. Probably occurring in the Western Central Pacific (Ref. 38717). Reported from the Indian Ocean (Ref. 43180).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-15; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 11-13
Biology:  Bathypelagic (Ref. 96339). Rare and poorly known.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 11 July 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
