| Diagnosis: | This species is distinguished by the following characters: dental crowns with ellipsoidal medial cusps and angle between dentaries usually larger than 80°; body size moderate and deep; head deep, its depth 20.0-22.7 % of SL and 59.1-67.3 % of HL; mandibulary ramus short, 19.0-24.0 % of HL; eyes large (orbital diameter 18.9-24.6 % of HL); no keels on lateral series of plates; no hypertrophied odontodes on flanks; uniform pectoral-fin spine diameter along its length; with a flap-shaped median buccal papilla; supraorbital not raised; anterior portion of abdomen partially naked. Colouration: body with large and faded dark blotches over a clearer background (Ref. 132487). | |||
