Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 5.5 - 7.5; dH range: 15
Distribution:  South America: Paraguay River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Feeds on worms, small crustaceans and plant matter. In captivity, it swims in the middle and upper water layers of the tank; spawns in the open water and its eggs hatch in 24 to 30 hours (Ref. 7020). Aquarium keeping: in groups of 5 or more individuals; minimum aquarium size 60 cm (Ref. 51539).
