| Diagnosis: | Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 39-39. Can be diagnosed by the following characters: trunk teretial; head conical, without developed rostrum; pelvic fins located anteriorly from the vertical through the origin of the dorsal fin; approximately ten gill rakers on the first branchial arch; lateral line incomplete; black longitudinal band along the middle part of the body; small lobes of the bony capsule of the swim bladder, the lobes connected by the moderately developing manubrium; and lacking epural (Ref. 85843). | |||
