Max. size:  30 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, amphidromous
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: southeastern USA to Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-10
Biology:  Found over muddy bottoms, generally in brackish waters of estuaries but also occurs in fresh water and hyper-saline environments.
