Max. size:  5.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South Africa: Western Cape (Olifants River system).
Diagnosis:  This species is distinguished by the following characters: complete lateral line complete with 28-33 pored scales )mode 31); circumpendicular scales 10-12 (mode 12); one pair of conspicuous oral barbels which surpass vertical through middle of eye (Ref. 124213).
Biology:  Inhabits perennial streams with oligotrophic water as they mostly drain over Table Mountain sandstone Unknown reporduction datails, but spawning may occur around November- December, based on redfin minnow, Pseudobarbus observations that are also endemic to the Cape Fold Ecoregion which is a winter rainfall period (Ref. 124213).
