Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Cynoglossinae
Max. size:  60 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 24 - 204 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Persian Gulf to Taiwan.
Diagnosis:  Eyes contiguous, or nearly so (Ref 9895).
Biology:  Inhabits silty or muddy substrates in coastal waters to about 25 meters depth. Usually deeply burried in the substrate during the day, but out and hunting at night (Ref. 48637).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 12 August 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
